After the students have completed all requirements for driver education, they will receive a certificate of completion. Requirements include: attendance of 30 hours of class, passing the final exam with a score of 80%, all ten driving hours finished, 6 observation hours completed, and all homework assignments including Contract for Life signed and turned in.
Once they have completed driver education, completed their 40 hours at home, and reached their 16th birthday, they will reach out to the DMV, to request a written exam, which can be scheduled online. After they pass the written test, they may be offered an opportunity to take the driving test that day if they are lucky and there is an opening, otherwise, they will be scheduled at the DMV for the driving test, or they can go back online to schedule later if need be. Many people have asked if is OK to go online ahead of time to get this process started. The DMV has strongly discouraged this as some people were getting appointments, and then not being able to use them because they were in fact, not ready. This was taking up valuable spots for kids who were ready. I hope that answers some of the questions about the DMV.
